Any worldly or spiritual outcome depends on end to end (holistic) process knowledge derived from diverse lived experience, purity of intent and effort. For example, 100% end to end process knowledge + 100 % purity of intent (awareness and choicelessness) + 100 % effort to ensure flawless execution = success.
On the other hand, balancing or reinforcing response to an event or trigger may often have a delayed impact due to varied reasons. An immature and inexperienced individual will experience consequent favorable or unfavorable emotional or mental involvement (For example: passion, aversion, anger, frustration, irritation, longing) results in loss of neutral state and purity of intent. This has a cascading effect on potential outcomes. A mature and experienced individual will take it in his/her stride and respond appropriately or refrain from any response and flow with the flow leading to minimal impact on the outcomes.
